TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Dec. 6 (PIA) - Tuguegarao City Mayor Atty. Jefferson P. Soriano assured the public especially those affected with the massive flooding that the city government is doing its best to respond to all the needs of all Tuguegaraoenos.
In a Facebook post, Soriano said the Tuguegarao City Rescue Teams were inundated with requests last night which he described as 'just extaordinary'.
He clarrified that the protocol of the city's Rescue teams is to prioritize warm bodies first before securing the livestock and poultry, property and agricultural goods.
"Only after all Tuguegaraoenos are all accounted for, safe and sound, can we accommodate other requests. But saving lives is first and foremost the Rescue 1111 team's mission," the mayor said.
CAMP MANAGEMENT. To ensure the safety and privacy of each family-evacuee affected by the massive flooding, Tuguegarao City government and other concerned agencies set up tents inside the city's People's gymnasium.
Soriano further said "Rest assured that we are doing our best, although sometimes, like with the saturated ground surrounding us these days, our manpower can only do so much."
"Napapagod din po sila. So kindly choose when to call and ask for help. When we can do it ourselves, and when it is not a matter of life and death, when it is just about you and your family being comfortable, just please DON'T. Mas marami pong nangangailangan. Please bear with us and pray for Tuguegarao City," the mayor added.
On the other hand, the mayor said city hall employees are now repacking relief goods to be given to affected families staying at People's Gymnasium and other families staying in other evacuation centers in the city.
Soriano also expressed his gratitude to the Provincial Government of Cagayan and Local Government of Penablanca for extending their help in the rescue operations.
Tuguegarao City is under state of calamity due to the massive flooding caused by continuous rains spawned by Northeast Monsoon or Amihan. (MDCT/PIA-2)
