TOKYO, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Wednesday, as market players took a cue after the Dow surpassed the 30,000-mark for the first time with the beginning of the U.S. presidential transition process and COVID-19 vaccine development process.
When the market opened here, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average increased 413.40 points, or 1.58 percent, from Tuesday to 26,578.99.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 21.15 points, or 1.20 percent, at 1,783.55.
Mining, iron and steel, and marine transportation issues comprised those that increased the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
