BEIJING, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.19 percent at 3,362.33 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.77 percent lower at 13,656.1 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices expanded to 863.4 billion yuan (about 131.2 billion U.S. dollars) from 830.3 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Losers outnumbered gainers by 1,226 to 255 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,821 to 474 in Shenzhen.
Shares in sectors related to liquor making, nonferrous metals and gold led the losses.
Bucking the downward trend, share prices of the automobile- and communications-related firms led the gains, with the share price of tech provider Zhejiang Supcon Technology Co., Ltd. rising by the daily limit of 10 percent to 120.7 apiece.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 2.22 percent to close at 2,615.53 points Wednesday.
