BEIJING, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.
SHENZHOU-14 TAIKONAUTS
The Shenzhou-14 taikonauts, who are aboard the Tiangong space station, gave an off-Earth salute to all participants in China's 30-year manned space program on Wednesday.
In a celebratory video message released by the China Manned Space Agency, taikonauts Chen Dong, Liu Yang and Cai Xuzhe raised their right hands to their heads, expressing their appreciation for the country's accomplishments in human space exploration.
SATELLITE LAUNCH
China sent a new satellite into planned orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China's Gobi Desert on Wednesday.
The Yunhai-1 03 satellite will be mainly used for detecting the atmospheric, marine and space environments, disaster prevention and mitigation, and scientific experiments.
MARS ROVER
China's Mars rover Zhurong, currently in sleep mode, is expected to wake up automatically in December when its energy level hits over 140 watts and the temperature of components like the battery rise above minus 15 degrees Celsius, according to its research team.
After waking up, the Chinese rover will continue to head south to acquire more data on the planet.
