BEIJING, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China:
CHINA-ASEAN COOPERATION
China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have deepened their cooperation in the field of nuclear energy and nuclear technology applications over the past 10 years, according to the China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA).
Liu Jing, vice chairman of the CAEA, made the remarks at the second China-ASEAN Forum on Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Technology held on Saturday and Sunday in Nanning, the capital of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
"China has provided ASEAN countries with reliable nuclear technology products, services, and solutions, promoted the training of professionals, and supported the development of peaceful uses of nuclear technology," Liu said.
HOMEGROWN HELICOPTERS
China is accelerating the building of a national emergency air rescue system with characteristics of Chinese modernization by facilitating the progress of homegrown aircraft and various other coordinated moves.
At the 6th China Helicopter Exposition held in north China's Tianjin Municipality, the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) displayed a series of homegrown helicopters and equipment for emergency rescue, especially the AC series civil helicopters such as the 4-tonne-level AC332, 7-tonne-level AC352 and various other major models with latest key progress.
WIDE-FIELD TELESCOPE
A wide-field telescope capable of surveying the entire Northern Hemisphere sky was put into operation on Sunday in northwest China's Qinghai Province, and its first image -- the Andromeda Galaxy, located over 2 million light-years away -- has already been released.
Developed by the University of Science and Technology of China and the Purple Mountain Observatory under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Wide Field Survey Telescope (WFST) is now the largest time-domain survey facility in the Northern Hemisphere.
