SEOUL, July 8 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's tech giant Samsung Electronics saw its second-quarter preliminary operating profit more than halve from a year earlier, the company said Tuesday.
The preliminary operating profit tumbled 55.94 percent to 4.6 trillion won (3.4 billion U.S. dollars) in the April-June quarter compared to the same quarter of last year.
It missed market expectations of about 6 trillion won (4.4 billion dollars).
Preliminary revenue edged down 0.09 percent to 74 trillion won (54 billion dollars) in the cited quarter.
The net income and detailed earnings for each business unit will be unveiled later this month.
