JOHANNESBURG, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Nine children were injured on Monday afternoon after a vehicle lost control and crashed into a tree in Pinetown, South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal Province, local media reported.
The South African Broadcasting Corporation, citing Advanced Life Support, a local emergency service provider, reported that a single vehicle transporting nine school children on their way home somehow lost control and collided with a tree.
All nine children sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate, and were treated at the scene before being transported to nearby hospitals for further medical care, the report said.
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, and an investigation is underway.
The accident occurred just hours after another tragic school transport crash in the country's Gauteng Province earlier on Monday, which killed 13 students, underscoring growing concerns over road safety for school transport in South Africa.
